Going to Rob and Kristins

Sat Sept 10

Arrived Spokane after a nice Southwest Airlines flight.  It was a direct/nonstop flight so was less than two hours.  Gosh – you would barely be up to the town of Williams, Ca on Interstate 5 in two hours if you were to drive it.  Had a female pilot – a first for me.

Spokane is a really nice airport and we got our bags and a rental car with no problems.  For Laura – we got a nice inexpensive Kia to keep expenses down, and it should get good mileage.

Kathy put Kristen’s parents address into her “garman” on the phone and we met the kids and Reagan there.  They all look great.  The house is fantastic it sits near a golf course in a gated community.  Homes in Spokane all seem to have a full basement and  this one has a wine cellar and about a zillion other rooms downstairs, and several bedrooms upstairs.
Rob wanted to take us to his favorite hamburger place for lunch, Hudson’s about 30 minutes east in Idaho.  It is an old place with more than a 50 year history of serving hamburgers.  You can get a single or a double,  with or without cheese.  You can get it with pickle or onion.   Nothing else.  Absolutely nothing else.  Absolutely.   We got several burgers, Pepsi’s, and some really good pie.  They have no French fries, potato chips or  even straws for the drinks.   Pretty good place, although a very limited menu.  They did provide napkins.

We went down to the lakeshore in the 90 degree heat.  A very pretty lake in a real touristy area. Reagan played in the pond with Kristin she loves water and loves to swim.
Sunday Sept 11 GOD BLESS AMERICA!
Woke up in beautiful green Spokane..very pretty here!  We had our Boyd’s coffee on the back porch in the  patio area.  It’s so nice here.
Rob and Kristin came by after church today and we went to the place that once hosted the Worlds Fair in 1974.  It was huge and they had a very cool water fall that was a giant sprinkler that went way up in the sky.  It would go slow and fast and make a big shower.  I took Regan into it while it was running slow, then it went fast and we got soaked! Reagan didn’t bat an eye - she loved it.  Then we walked over to a garbage goat.  It’s a metallic life sized goat that has a vacuum in the mouth and sucks up all the garbage in your hand.  Very cool!  Also there was a merry go round that had antique horses it was so colorful and fun.
We walked across the bridge and saw a beautiful clock tower.  The tower was built for the 1974 World’s Fair by the railroad.  Turns out this was the location Rob and Kristin had some of their engagement pictures taken.
There was a large hill close by. Regan ran up and down the  hill and did not stop running the whole day!!
Earlier we had breakfast at Franks Diner that was on old orginal train car.  It was so elegant -  an old train car with all the original wood and stained glass and the food was very good.  Don had a Meatloaf Benedict, a very manly dish, and I had silver dollar pancakes with huckleberries – yum.
Went to Rob’s and Kristin’s house after the park it is a real nice place with his Boyd’s truck out in front (not for long – about 2 more weeks!). Their house is for growing lots of kids, there is a huge basement below that they can convert into many rooms for this purpose…hint hint!!!
Reagan gets lots of attention from the dogs and the dogs are crazy about her.  They play tug of war with her and follow her all around the house. They are so funny and have great personalities!
Kristin and Rob are so happy and are such a cute little family.  I am so happy Rob found Kristin she is a very pretty, funny, smart woman who loves Rob with all her heart.  What more could a mother ask for!
We are back now getting ready for bed.  Tomorrow we will see more of Spokane.
September 12 2011
Another gorgeous day in Spokane.  Robert had to work so Don I had the day to ourselves.  We rented a Malibu Chevy and its very comfy and gets great mileage.
We drove around Spokane and found a rainbow store -  how great is that?? Rainbow Rocks!
We noticed while driving there are so many parks here in Spokane and they are all over the place.  All kinds of parks.  It’s as if there is any vacant lad the city decided not to waste it so they build  a park.  It’s very family friendly.
We went to rainbow and bought stuff to cook dinner, chicken fahita salad for dinner and bluberry tea with dried fruit for desert, yum.  Rob and Kristen and Reagan came over for dinner and we had mucho funo!
Reagan had oatmeal and ate the heck out of it, when she was finished eating we all went for a walk.  Reagan heard a dog barking at the neighbors house and wanted to go meet it …oh boy does she love puppies. She walked the whole way and kept up with us….she has sooo much energy, Kristin does a good job of keeping up with her!.  She knows so many ASL signs its great, she can sign more thank you, please, and many more
We went back  to the house and had our “ert” on the patio the night time air very mild with no breeze and was perfect for ending another wonderful day with our kids. We are so blessed, God is good.
September 13, 2011 was moderate and overcast.  We packed up our stuff and are now on our way to Bonners Ferry
